How to naturally get rid of rashes under breasts

1 /7
Rashes under the breasts are more common than you think. While in most cases, the number one cause is ill-fitting innerwear, there can be a plethora of reasons - from excessive sweating or dryness in that area, an allergic reaction to a bacterial, yeast or fungal infection - for the problem. While the itchiness and burning sensation causes discomfort, the good news is that this problem can be easily fixed, thanks to these natural home remedies.

Gel it up
The antibacterial, anti-microbial and soothing properties in aloe vera make it a great natural remedy. In addition to helping moisturise the chafed skin, aloe vera also helps alleviate the itchiness and inflammation. Cut open an aloe vera leaf, scrape off the flesh, and set aside in a bowl. If needed, add two to three drops of tea tree essential oil before generously applying over the affected areas. After 10 to 15 minutes, wash with warm water. Follow this twice or thrice or day.

Basil paste to the rescue
Basil is known to have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce any redness or itchiness caused by the rash. The power component eugenol, a topical anesthetic, provides soothing relief. Boil two cups of water along with one or two tablespoons of dried basil leaf powder and let cool. Use this as a skin wash twice daily. You can also grind a handful of fresh basil leaves and directly apply over the rash. Wash with cold water after leaving it on for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Sweet like honey
Honey makes for the best natural humectant, thereby soothing any redness, itchiness and soreness. Additionally, it also helps keep any bacterial or fungal infections at bay, due to its anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties. Mix together one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of lemon juice and using a cotton pad, apply directly over the rashes. Once dry, wash with cold water. Do this twice a day.

Let garlic work its charm
This power-packed spice helps fight off bacterial and fungal infections that might be causing the rash. Crush two to three cloves of garlic and rub directly over the affected areas. Instead, you could soak a cotton pad in some garlic essential oil and apply directly. After about 30 to 40 minutes, wash with warm water and wipe dry. Do this every night before going to bed.

6 /7
Bring out the best of oatmeal
Oatmeal helps soothe and calm irritated skin by moisturising it. In a bowl, whisk together two tablespoons of oatmeal powder, one teaspoon honey and two tablespoons yoghurt. Apply evenly over the affected areas and let dry. Wash with cold water. It's best to follow this remedy at least once a day for better results.

7 /7
Because prevention is better than cure
Always make sure that the area under your breasts is dry. Let your breasts 'breathe' a bit by exposing them to air at least twice a day for 15 to 20 minutes.
Refrain from using harsh soaps as they can strip the area from oils, thereby resulting in dryness. Check to see if you are allergic to any of the soaps or other hygiene products that you may be using.
Always wear a bra that not only offers good support, but that is also comfortable. Ensure that the fabric or the wires don't chafe the skin or cause discomfort. As much as possible, avoid using bras made of synthetic materials and instead make room for cotton bras.
After taking a bath or exercising, wipe dry the area under your breasts. Apply some talcum or baby powder during the hot and humid months to keep perspiration under the breasts to a minimum. Always wash and thoroughly dry your bras before wearing them.
